'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Special moment for Brown

Terry Brown reflected on his sacking as AFC Wimbledon manager in a positive fashion, with him happy he was able to say goodbye to the fans.

Following the home defeat to Torquay Brown saluted all four corners of Kingsmeadow, seemingly in acknowledgement that it was going to be his last and him dismissed: 'Last night was a special moment as not many managers get to leave in such a way by saying goodbye to the supporters.

'Stuart and I felt that we had to get a couple of wins out of our home games and that if we lost both games then we would no longer be at the club.

'That is sad, but I will remember five absolutely fantastic years at the club. I cannot say I have enjoyed this season as it has not gone well, but my abiding memory will be our three promotions.'

Brown himself recently admitted that he had to start getting results or he would, no matter what he had achieved with the club, lose his job, which he did on Tuesday night having guided the club to three promotion in five-years having taken over at Wimbledon in May 2007 and guided them into the football league.
