Former Wimbledon manager Dave Bassett, from the 1980s and 90s; will be helping AFC Wimbledon in the search for their new manager.
Chief executive Erik Samuelson confirmed as much, as to told BBC London 94.9, with him of the belief Bassett can offer a lot with this search: 'There's several people I could see running the club but I think we have to have a cool look at it.
'We have to make sure we learn from his knowledge of the game. We need to make sure we don't make a romantic decision or one where we don't know as much about the man as we want to.
'That's part of the way he can help.
'You can ask as many questions as you like in an interview but if someone says 'I know him' it makes a hell of a difference.'
This appointment isn't expected to come before the weekend, but once it gets down to "two or three" the final decision will be left down to "the main board" to decide who gets the job.
40 people had applied for he job "lots of names you'd know, a few surprising ones and a couple from left-field" with it now wanted to narrow it down to seven or eight with Bassett then helping with these interviews to whittle it down to the two or three for the board to decide upon.
