Bassey: That summed our season up really

The latest defeat suffered by AFC Wimbledon at Oxford on Tuesday evening "summed up" the clubs seasons so far according to caretaker Simon Bassey.

Being "braver" is something that he thinks this Dons side need to be: 'That summed our season up really. What matters is what you do in both boxes and we weren't brave enough where it matters.

'Changes will have to be made. It's a young group and they're learning all the time, but they've got to be braver.'

At the time, following this 3-2 reverse, Bassey wasn't sure if it would be his last game in caretaker charge, but if it was he felt he could hold his head high in the job he's done, even if he concedes that realistically the return of three from nine wasn't enough.

Should he have been in charge against Plymouth (which he will) he would continue to give his all: 'If it is my last game, so be it. I've done the best I could. We've taken three points out of a possible nine, which isn't really good enough. We have to turn these performances into results. But we could easily have taken six points from the last two games, instead of none.

'Everyone's job is on the line. But we'll dust ourselves down and go again. I'll keep working hard and doing my best and if I'm in charge at Plymouth on Saturday, I'll do my best again there.'
