'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCallum loaned from West Ham

Having heard "rave reviews" about Paul McCallum it was decided by Neil Ardley, as he told the official website, to bring him in on loan on Thursday.

West Ham's 19-year-old striker has come in until the turn of the year, Ardley said: 'We have a busy period coming up and we are in a dogfight. Good players like this do not become available too often so we have to utilise them.

'We have had rave reviews about Paul. I have had contacts ringing me up and telling me how good a player he is and I have spoken to Ian Hendon, his U21s manager at West Ham, and he believes Paul will be ideal for us. He is a big, strong lad, who links the play up well.'

McCallum has signed a loan deal until January 1st, which will help AFC Wimbledon with further options up to and including the hectic Christmas period. Permission has also been granted by The Hammers for him to feature in the FA Cup.
