Penalty Denies Dons The Points

AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Northampton
19th February 2013
19:45
Kingsmeadow

After a slight delay, due to a power cut, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton eventually did battle on Tuesday night, with the points shared.

The lead was taken just before the half hour mark by Wimbledon when Alan Bennett (28) headed home to the delight of the home fans.

Northampton almost levelled soon after but the break came with the hosts one-nil up.

Having had two efforts previously Adebayo Akinfenwa was given the chance to make it third time luck when Northampton were awarded a late penalty. Akinfenwa (76) made no mistake as he slotted home.

AFC Wimbledon remain at the foot of the League Two table following this 1-1 draw, with it being viewed as two dropped points as opposed to one gained.
