Delighted With The Win

Delighted With The Win

AFC Wimbledon came from behind to beat Hartlepool 2-1 at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday night.

When the game got through to half time, and the Dons were one-nil down, the outcome didn't look likely but two goals in two-minutes in the second half turned the game in Wimbledon's favour.

Sometimes you've got to hold your hands up and admit that you've made a mistake and Neal Ardley did just that with the boss admitting that he got the tactics wrong in the first half.

Ardley said: 'When you're 1-0 down and playing as disjointed as we did in the first half then obviously you are delighted with the win.

'I take the wrap for the first half, I tactically got it wrong. We didn't have enough width and we ended up with too many straight balls down the middle.'

Wimbledon had fallen behind to a goal from Luke James, however Will Antwi headed the Dons level and two-minutes later, after coming off the bench, Danny Hylton struck a debut winner for Wimbledon.

There was also praise for Dons 'keeper Ross Worner again, with Ardley praising his contribution for the evening and overall this season as well as conceding that the win came with a slice of fortune.

The boss added: 'Ross Worner showed why he's becoming one of the best goalkeepers in this league and we rode our look at times.'
