Ardley - We Were Weak Against Accrington

Manager Neal Ardley has accused the players of putting in a weak display yesterday when we lost 3-2 to Accrington Stanley.

Despite our late fight back in the game having been three nil down, it wasn't much consolation for the gaffer who told the Official Site.

'We work incredibly hard on giving the players statistics to start games better, but it's a weak mentality. To perform like we did in the last 30 minutes shows everything that was wrong in the first 60 minutes. I am gutted and things have to change. I have to change and I will. The players that are here next season will get told what is expected of them in no uncertain terms during their reviews next week. I will be hard on them and I won't stand for performances like that again.'

Ardley goes on to say that unfortunately he felt that for the opening '50 minutes we were dishonest' and he felt immensely let down by the players because he does have faith in them to perform a hell of a lot better than that.

'My team talk was about restoring pride, winning one to one battles and giving the fans a performance that they deserved at the end of the season.'

Showing how unhappy he really was, he adds that only Danny Hylton and Darren Jones deserved any credit on the day, and those two came on as substitutes in the match, but he feels they more than showed with their showings everything that had been wrong up until that point.

Horrible way to end the campaign, but some tough decisions have to be made over the summer now if we are to push on further and continue to improve as a club.
